Before we dive into our updates for February, one note about our gym schedule this month: we will be closed in observance of Presidents' Day on Monday, February 17th. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, February 18th.

Here's What's Happening in February…

Group Fitness Class Swaps

Please note the changes to our evening classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays:

  • Laam will now be teaching Core Concepts at 4:30pm on Tuesday and Zumba at 5pm in the group fitness studio. Yoga will now take place in the spin room.

  • On Wednesday, POP Pilates will begin at 5pm and Kickboxing at 5:30pm.

  • Since Laam will be away for most of the month of February, Vincent and Tristen will take over these classes as noted on the class calendar.

CLASS HIGHLIGHT: CARDIO KICK

Kick it up a notch in Tristen's Cardio Kickboxing class on Wednesdays at 5:30pm. Elevate your heart rate and feel the energy in this fun 45-minute class.

February 12th: Barbell Basics - The Squat

Join Sung on Wednesday, February 12th from 12-1pm in the Spin Room for a full overview of how to perform the squat with the barbell and ways to incorporate it into your training routine. This class is for beginners or for those members that want to refine their technique. 

Registration will open a week before the class.

February 18th: New Climbing Routes Available

Starting Tuesday, February 18th we will have new climbing routes available. If you're interested in using the climbing wall but have not yet completed the safety training, please contact kara@ignitebiofitness.com to set up your appointment. 

February 19th: Heart Health Workshop

Join Tiffany via Zoom on Wednesday, February 19th at noon for some insight into how to improve your heart health. Discover simple, effective ways to support your heart through nutrition, movement, stress management, and better sleep. This workshop offers practical tips to create lasting habits for a healthy, balanced life. Perfect for busy professionals!

Group Fitness Calendar Changes

  • Starting January 6th, join Wendy on Mondays for 30 minutes of Boot Camp at 5pm, and 45 minutes of Kickboxing at 5:30pm.

  • Starting January 8th, welcome back Sophia to her regular Pilates HIIT class on Wednesdays at noon. This will replace Tiffany's HIIT class.

January Group Fitness Challenge

Kick start your New Year by joining Ignite's many fun and energizing class offerings! Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 participants in January.

  • Class types include Yoga, TRX, Boot Camp, Zumba, Kickboxing and more.

  • We offer a variety of daily classes at noon, as well as 9 evening classes Monday through Thursday, with several 30-minute classes available.

  • Please note that class sizes are limited, so priority goes to those who sign up in advance. You may be turned away if the class exceeds the limit.

  • Check in with the front desk to make sure your class sessions are accounted for this month's challenge.

January 31st: Polar Plunge

Join Elijah, Kara and Sung for a dip in the cold plunge on Friday, January 31st at 12:30pm. Learn all the benefits of the cold plunge and how to control your breathing in 50-degree temperatures. All members who participate in the plunge will receive a free SECA body scan voucher ($30 value). Hot beverages will be available to all plungers!

December 2024 Update

  • December 20th: The gym will have reduced hours from 6am to 3pm.

  • December 23rd-January 1st: The gym will be closed.

WALKTOBER WINNERS

Congratulations to our top 3 Walktober winners:

The top 3 participants averaged over 20,000 steps per day throughout the month of October. This was our biggest year for participation to date and we look forward to next year's event!

Small Group Training

In search of a guided workout routine, but your budget is a little tight after the holidays? Consider small group training with one of our knowledgeable trainers!

Find a friend to keep you accountable in 2025 and take advantage of the discounted prices for small group training (between 2-4 participants).

Email kara@ignitebiofitness.com for more details and to arrange a fitness assessment prior to your first group session. All packages (5 or 10 session packages) include a free SECA body scan.

  • Yoga with Isha has been removed from the December group fitness calendar on Thursdays at noon.

November 2024 Update

Happy Halloween! Before we get into our November updates, wanted to share a few holiday closures with you:

  • Monday, Nov 11th: The gym will be closed for Veterans Day. Regular gym hours will resume on Tuesday, November 12th.

  • Wednesday, Nov 27th: The gym will have reduced hours from 6am to 3pm.

  • Thursday, Nov 28th & Friday, Nov 29th: The gym will be closed for Thanksgiving.

There will be no classes the week of November 25-29. All classes and regular business hours will resume on Monday, December 2nd.

Here's What's Happening in November...

Sports Court Reservations

Sports Courts reservations will be on pause during the winter period. We expect to reintroduce reservations in mid-March 2025.

If you would like to reserve a time for the sports courts between November and March, please reach out to Kara (kara@ignitebiofitness.com) and she can add your booking to the reservation calendar, which can be viewed under "Sports Courts" on our site.

December 5th: Holiday CORNament!

Join us on Thursday, December 5th (weather permitting - schedule TBD) for a year-end Ignite BioFitness Cornament.

All team entries consisting of two members must be submitted to Sung@ignitebiofitness.com by Tuesday, November 26th.

Light refreshments and hot chocolate will be served. Corny Holiday sweaters are highly encouraged!

It may be chilly, but we expect your competitive spirits will bring the heat!

Please note: all participants must be registered with Ignite BioFitness to be eligible to play.

December 9th-13th: 3rd Annual Climbing Competition

It's that time of year again for our third annual team climbing event! This week-long team climbing competition, which takes place from December 9th-13th, will consist of routes with a designated point system, and each lap completed will receive points. Points will be tallied daily and averaged based on the team size.

Please note there will be a couple new rules added to this year's event to help encourage climbers of all levels to participate, which will be shared once all entries have been received.

If you're interested in putting a company team together, please email kara@ignitebiofitness.com to register your team. The deadline for team entries is Friday, November 22nd.

If a team member has not yet completed the climbing orientation, they must do so by December 6th.

If you'd like to participate and don't have a company team, Kara will help place you on a team!

BEACH VOLLEYBALL WINNERS: GRAIL

Congratulations to Grail on being our 2024 Beach Volleyball League Champions. This is Grail's 3rd year in a row holding the championship title. Thanks to all of the teams that came out and competed in this year's league. We are looking forward to more league events in 2025!

October 1st-31st: Walktober Challenge

It's that time again for our Walktober Challenge! Here's how it works:

From Tuesday, October 1st through Thursday, October 31st, during your work week, track your steps every day via your Fitbit, Apple Watch, or other phone app (Mondays through Fridays only). We will add up the steps and see who comes out on top! The top three ranked participants will receive prizes.

October 2nd: Zumba is Back!

Back by popular demand, Laam will be back to teaching Zumba on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:15pm. Feel the Latin and World rhythms move through you as you dance and groove to the beat!

October 7th: NEW Spin and Strength Class

Gear up with Tiffany and feel the energy as she takes you on a ride on Mondays at noon. This is a 45-minute workout on the bike with a combination of total body strength and a core focus off the bike.

October 15th: New Climbing Routes

Come and check out the new climbing routes that will be available mid-October. If you haven't completed the climbing wall orientation, ask the front desk for more details, or email Kara at kara@ignitebiofitness.com to sign up for your 15-minute safety session before your first climb.

October 22nd: Lunch & Learn - Sleep Shift Workshop

Join Tiffany on Tuesday, October 22nd at 12pm for her Sleep Shift Workshop where she will dive into how to master your rest and recovery to improve your overall health and well-being. She will discuss the impacts of sleep deprivation and give you ways to better manage your sleep.

This online event will take place on Zoom for a 30-minute presentation, followed by a Q&A.

Calling All Pickleball Players

We would like to offer a way for pickleball players to connect with others for games at Menlo Park Labs. If you're interested in adding your contact information to our list of eligible players, please email kara@ignitebiofitness.com. All players must be registered at Ignite BioFitness. We may also use this as a way to contact players in the future to set up a pickleball league event in 2025.

If you're ever in the mood to play, don't forget we have a pickleball set on hand at Ignite to borrow for game play!

September 2024 Update

Here's What's Happening in September...

September 4th: HIIT Is Back!

Starting September 4th, join Tiffany on Wednesdays at 12pm for High-Intensity Interval Training. HIIT is a complete workout that combines both aerobic and strength training with repeated high intensity efforts mixed in with recovery periods. This class will replace Sophia's Pilates HIIT class during her leave of absence until the New Year.

September 4th: Cardio Sculpt

Also starting September 4th, join Laam on Wednesdays at 5:30pm for Cardio Sculpt, a 45-minute class that is sure to get your heart pumping. Cardio Sculpt is a fun, fast-paced fitness class that combines cardio and muscle sculpting exercises with the use of dumbbells and/or other fitness equipment. This class will replace Zumba on the group fitness calendar for the time being.

September 5th: Yoga with Isha

Starting September 5th, we'll be welcoming Isha to our fall group fitness calendar. Isha will be teaching yoga on Thursdays in the spin room at 12pm this fall while Sophia is on leave until the end of the year. De-stress on your lunch break and allow your mind and body to connect as you flow through various movements on the mat.

September 9th: Spin and Strength Flash Class

Join Tiffany on Monday, September 9th at 12pm for a special 45-minute class on and off the bike. This class was created for members who are interested in spin classes but also want some time off the bike to tackle a full-body strength workout.

Depending on class feedback and participation, we may consider adding this class to the group fitness calendar. Email kara@ignitebiofitness.com with your feedback or please submit comments in our suggestion boxes located in the locker rooms.

September 11th: End of Summer Mixer & Jeans/Jacket Drive

Mark your calendar for the Menlo Park Labs End of Summer Mixer on September 11th from 3:30-5:30pm, on the patio of Eats at 1440. Please stop by for some delicious food, drinks and more!

At the event, we'll be kicking off a Jeans & Jackets Drive benefiting Samaritan House kids and teens. Please bring your clean, lightly used jeans and jackets (any size!) to donate at the event for a chance to win a $250 Visa gift card. We'll also be accepting donations at the Ignite front desk from September 12th-20th.

September 17th: Fall Into Fitness Challenge

With summer coming to an end, what better way to maximize your time outdoors than joining Ignite BioFitness' end of summer outdoor fitness challenge?

On Tuesday, September 17th, grab a friend and head to the basketball court behind 1505 O'Brien Drive. Team entries consist of 2 participants for this energizing 45-minute bodyweight workout lead by Tiffany. She will guide you through a circuit that will challenge you and your partner! Points will be accumulated based on completed repetitions between you and your partner.

August 2024 Update

We hope you've been enjoying your summer and getting some time out in the sun.

A quick reminder that if you'd like to play basketball, beach volleyball, or pickleball at the sports courts, you can rent out gear at the front desk. Stop by and swap an ID for a basketball, dodgeball, or volleyball, a pickleball set or a cornhole set. Perfect for team-building activities!

Remember to reserve your sports court online beforehand. This amenity is for Ignite BioFitness members only.

Here's What's Happening in August...

August 2nd: Paws for Purple Hearts

This Friday, we'll be welcoming back Paws for Purple Hearts to Ignite BioFitness from 11am to 12:30pm.

Paws for Purple Hearts is a non-profit that provides service dogs and canine-assisted therapy programs for Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members. The assistance dogs will be training at Ignite BioFitness to get a sense of what it's like being in a gym environment.

You may want to consider a different gym time during this small window if you have any allergies or anxieties related to dogs. Thank you for your understanding!

August 20th: Outdoor Total Body

Join Suzi on Tuesday, August 20th at 12pm for her 45-minute Total Body class outdoors. Suzi's classes are in high demand, so make sure to sign up and reserve your spot for some fun in the sun!

Don't forget to bring your water bottle and sun protection as you see fit. Limited shade will be available.

August 28th: Group Fitness Sunset Social

Join us on the roof top Wednesday, August 28th after Laam's Zumba class from 6:30-7:30pm for some light refreshments and a chance to mix and mingle with the group fitness community. All members are welcome!

August 29th: End of Summer Cornhole Tournament

Join us Thursday, August 29th for our end of summer Cornament on the tennis court.

Team submissions are due by Friday, August 16th - so find a friend and enter a team of two for the event by emailing names to sung@ignitebiofitness.com. Brackets will be created and distributed to teams the week of the event.

Come cheer on your company team in Ignite's beach volleyball league! The first week of game play is on Thursday, July 18th (time TBD) at the sports courts. We have 8 teams in this year's league, and we look forward to seeing who our 2024 League Champions will be!

July 24th: Cardio Sculpt Flash Class

Join Laam on Wednesday, July 24th for Cardio Sculpt, which will take the place of Zumba for the day from 5:30-6:15 pm. This 45-minute class will keep you moving while focusing on core and strength.

Give it your best shot in our 3-point basketball challenge! Join us Thursday, July 25th on the basketball sports court from 12-1 pm and compete in a friendly challenge against other members in the park.

NEW: Sports Courts Reservations

Interested in reserving a time slot at the sports courts? Check out our new online reservation system to reserve an hour of play.

To reserve, click on "Sports Courts" and select from the following courts: Tennis/Pickleball, Beach Volleyball, and Basketball.

As a reminder, court priority goes to league games and special Ignite court events. All Sport Courts participants must be registered with Ignite BioFitness.

June 10th: New Climbing Routes

Starting Monday, June 10th, we will have new climbing routes available for your enjoyment. For those members that are interested in climbing but have not completed the climbing orientation, please connect with Kara@ignitebiofitness.com to set up your safety training.

June 14th: Submit Your Team for Beach Volleyball

Are you interested in playing in our 2024 beach volleyball league? Get your team together and nominate your captain before submitting your team entry by Friday, June 14th to sung@ignitebiofitness.com.

The anticipated league start date will be the week of July 15th-19th and will be a one game per week commitment. Prizes will be awarded to the league champions.

GROUP FITNESS UPDATES

  • After 3 months of recovery from shoulder surgery, Suzi is back to teach her regular Tuesday Total Body class and Thursday TRX classes at noon. A big thank you to Tiffany and Alys for covering her classes while she was away

  • A warm welcome to Gabriel, who will be taking over Alys' Boot Camp classes on Monday from 4:30-5 pm and 5-5:30 pm. Join Gabriel for a 30-minute boot camp session or stay for a full hour if your schedule allows. We wish Alys well in her new position!

May 2024 Update

We hope you've been making the most of this beautiful weather and enjoying some exercise in the sunshine! We have lots of important updates to get to this month, but first some personnel notes:

  • Vincent will cover Laam's classes (POP Pilates, Kickboxing, Core & More and Zumba) and Isha will cover Sophia's classes (Yoga) while they're away in May. Sophia will also be subbing Asia's Yoga classes while she's out. You can check the online calendar for all class updates.

  • Welcome back Elijah to the front desk following his 3-month study abroad experience in Italy! A big thank you to all the front desk subs that stepped in while he was away.

Also, please note that Ignite BioFitness will be closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.

Here's What's Happening in May...

NEW IN RECOVERY: The Dry Sauna

The Dry Sauna is now available for 1-hour reservations from 7 am to 7:45 pm. Reservations must be made in advanced to allow for heating prep time for your appointment. The dry sauna is located in the pool area, so a bathing suit is recommended for use. Grab the water bucket and ladle at the front desk to elevate your experience!

Here are a few other protocols to consider when using the dry sauna:

  • Please do not wear any outdoor shoes in the dry sauna.

  • Water for the bucket must be filled from the locker room and not the pool.

  • Cold plungers may need access to the sauna during your appointment time.

NEW IN RECOVERY: The Cold Plunge

Now also available is our new Cold Plunge, also located in the pool area. A cold-water immersion tutorial is required for first-time users from a staff member to ensure safety and proper use.

May 9th: Beach Volleyball Prep Series

Join Sung outside on the sports courts (basketball court) weekly on Thursdays to prime your body for our next league sport - Beach Volleyball - which will start in July.

This 8-week class series will begin on May 9th and end on June 27th. Class programming will also be available on our site so you can follow along if you miss a class.

May 13th: Rooftop Dance Fusion

Join Ting on Monday, May 13th for a 45-minute Dance Fusion class on the rooftop. Take in the views, sun and fresh air while you elevate your energy and heart rate in this popular 45-minute class. Sunglasses, sunscreen and water are recommended as shade will be limited.

May 15th: Spring/Summer Mixer

Menlo Park Labs will be hosting a Spring/Summer Mixer on May 15th from 3:30-5:30 pm, next door at Eats at 1440 - grab a workout then stop by for some delicious food, drinks and more!

May 17th: Register for Our June Corn Hole Tournament

Join us for our first-ever corn hole tournament on Thursday, June 6th on the beach volleyball court! Awards and light refreshments will follow on the day of the tournament.

May 21st: Barbell Basics with Sung - The Deadlift

Build your strength from the ground up in our barbell lifting series! These sessions are for members who would like an introduction to the barbell and want to learn how to do lifts properly under the watchful eye of an instructor.

This month, the deadlift is back by request! Sung will instruct another deadlifting session on Tuesday, May 21st from 12-1 pm in the spin room. Sung, a national level weightlifter, will give you an overview of proper deadlift technique and provide feedback on your form.

There is no cost for this event; however, space is limited to 8 people.

April 2024 Update

Spring is finally here, and it's time to get outside and enjoy the offerings of the Sports Courts at Menlo Park Labs!

Whether you're interested in beach volleyball, basketball, tennis or pickleball, Ignite BioFitness has all the equipment you need for outdoor play. Ask our reception team to exchange ID for a basketball, volleyball or pickleball set for the duration of your game. (Please keep in mind that league play takes priority of the court.)

Here's What's Happening in April...

April 1st-5th: Dodge Ball Tournament

Come out and watch our first outdoor league event of the year on the basketball courts the week of April 1st-5th at 12 pm.

Seven teams will battle it out over the course of the week for the title of Dodgeball Champions and bragging rights in Menlo Park Labs!

April 11th: Total Body Outdoor Class

With the weather heating up, what better way to enjoy the outdoors than with a total body workout? Join us Thursday, April 11th at 12 pm in the rear parking lot for a total body class with Alys. Shade is limited, so please plan ahead with sun protection and a water bottle.

April 12th: Submit Your Team for Basketball League

Are you interested in putting together a company basketball team for some friendly competition in Menlo Park Labs? Please submit your team rosters and team captain to Sung (Sung@ignitebiofitness.com) by Friday, April 12th. Starting in early May, each team will be scheduled to play once a week. Prizes will be awarded to the league champions!

Build your strength from the ground up in our barbell lifting series! These sessions are for members who would like an introduction to the barbell and want to learn how to do lifts properly under the watchful eye of an instructor.

Kara competed at the Masters National Championships in Reno last month and outlifted all her competitors in her age and weight category! She received three gold medals for the snatch, clean and jerk and total, and was awarded the title of 2024 Masters National Champion.
